* Adoption of USB port and upgraded navigation systems across the range
* Hybrid-exclusive styling details for GS 450h
The 2010 GS model range will feature upgraded safety features, along with new interior styling.
GS 450h will also gain further hybrid-exclusive exterior styling cues to identify 450h as the high performance flagship of the GS range.
GS Model Range
Headlining the upgrades to the 2010 GS range is the adoption of a new Advanced Pre-Collision Safety System with pre-collision seatbelt and pre-collision brake assist functions.
Lexus’ Advanced Pre-Collision safety system will prepare the vehicle for an imminent collision. However, the new Pre-Collision Safety System will also apply the vehicles brakes if the driver fails as well.
Teamed with the new Advanced Pre-Collision Safety system are new active headrests.
Lexus’ Active headrest technology projects the headrest forward and upward, to support the occupant’s head, minimising the risk of whiplash injury in the event of a collision.
All GS models also receive an upgraded audio navigation system, featuring new software for greater ease of use when navigating the vehicle touch screen control.
GS 300 Sports retains the 10-speaker Lexus premium sound system while all other GS 300, GS 460 and GS 450h models retain a 14-speaker Mark Levinson® Premium Surround Sound system for the reproduction of perfect 5.1-channel surround sound on selected CDs and DVDs.
All systems now offer both USB and audio jack plug connectivity for the fully controlled use of portable music players such as iPods®, and Bluetooth™ mobile phone connectivity with an audio streaming function.
Further enhancements to the GS range include the adoption of three new exterior colours - Metallic Silk (Silvery/Gold), Deep Peridot (Green/Gold) and Lapis Lazuli (Deep Blue).
All models will also be able to be specified with new Ivory leather-accented interiors, joining the existing light Gray and Black interior options.
Unique GS 450h Full Hybrid Design Features
GS 450h’s status as the high-performance model of the Lexus hybrid range, has been further reinforced by the model’s upgrades.
In addition to the navigation, audio and safety upgrades made across the model range, GS 450h receives additional new exterior differentiation.
A unique front grille design incorporates horizontal bars of varying thickness, ensuring GS 450h can be instantly recognised.
Further exterior differentiation includes newly designed hybrid blue rear lamps and twin five spoke 18-inch aluminium wheel design is available.
Interior revisions include hybrid blue back-lit engine stop/start button.
Lexus Australia, Chief Executive, John Roca, said that the latest range of safety and design features solidify GS’s technological foundations.
"At the time of launch, GS introduced Lexus’ unique Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system, and in 2009 the model becomes the first to introduce Advanced Pre-Collision Safety System.
"Furthermore, refinements to navigation systems and on-board entertainment systems make the GS range easier and more enjoyable to drive.
The Lexus GS range is available in a variety of drivetrains including a 3.0-litre V6 (GS 300) and 4.6-litre V8 (GS 460). The highly efficient direct-injection powerplants are mated to six- and eight-speed automatic respectively.
GS 450h features Lexus’ unique 3.5-litre V6 petrol electric hybrid, delivering a combined system output of 254kW of power.
