LEXUS SETS NEW SALES RECORDS
Luxury vehicle manufacturer Lexus has posted its highest year-to-date sales result on record and the highest sales for a financial year since the marque was launched in Australia.
Lexus delivered a record 4,070 vehicles year-to-date – 579 vehicles more than the same period last year – according to figures released today by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI).
FCAI figures also show that Lexus sold a record 7,741 vehicles for the financial year – a major reaffirmation of the brand’s increasing popularity and sales success.
Lexus also maintained its number three position in the Luxury vehicle market, posting a sales record of 761 vehicles for the month of June.
This is the sixth straight month of record Lexus sales for 2007. Lexus IS and RX Line vehicles continued to sell strongly in June, with 393 IS and 254 RX Line vehicle purchases.
The FCAI figures also show that vehicle sales in Australia surpassed the one million mark for the financial year, with June passenger vehicle sales increasing 11.8 per cent to 63,768 and the SUV market increasing 4.9 per cent to 18,966 compared to June 2006.
Lexus Australia divisional manager John Roca said that the results for Lexus and the industry were confirmation that the Lexus sales performance in the Australian vehicle market was stronger than ever.
“Six straight months of record sales and a record financial year for Lexus is obviously extremely exciting,” Mr Roca said.
“This year is proving to be a year of records for Lexus, and we are confident we can continue this trend for the remainder of the year.
“The June results also demonstrate the health of the Luxury vehicle market in Australia.
“In fact, the financial year result of more than one million vehicles suggests 2007 will be a vintage year for Lexus and the industry as a whole,” Mr Roca said.
