In 2011, Lexus of Brighton was the major sponsor of the Shepparton – Bendigo leg on Saturday, April 8. On the day we presented TDC with a donation cheque, plus a team of seven riders all took part in the day and collectively raised further funds through their own personal networks.

Lexus of Brighton would like to congratulate Daniel, Graeme, Ahmad, Joe, Mark, Ralf and David for taking part in the day.

Day 4 Energy

Well, today we had an excursion to Lexus centre. We had a lot of listening to do. The guy who told us about a Hybrid and Electric cars, his name was Josh. It was great fun. I learnt a lot of things but I’m only going to tell you 3 things, but I could tell you 1000 ‘cause’ my brain is bursting.

1.    Under a back seat in a Hybrid car there is 288 volts!

2.    Some Hybrid cars are 80% recycled.

3.    Josh is 2 metres tall.

Great Ocean & Otway Classic Ride 2009

The Lexus of Brighton’s team training and preparation for the upcoming Tour de Cure is well underway with perfect weather greeting the teamfor this year’s 2XU Great Ocean & Otway Classic Ride that took place on Saturday, March 28th.

A steady stream of riders departed from Elephant Reserve in Torquay as they eagerly awaited their turn to cycle on one of Australia’s most sensational courses. The breathtaking views along the Great Ocean Road were the highlight for most cyclists, as too the scenic decent into Lorne. Rider safety was a top priority and all cyclists were appreciative of the safety provisions implemented to reduce the risk of any falls or other problems.

Cyclists were welcomed back to Elephant Reserve with a finish festival, including a band, random spot prizes, massage and refreshments.

On the road to curing cancer

The Tour de Cure is a journey like no other – it is an annual cycling tour that aims to involve a group of everyday people to raise much needed funds to assist in the fight against cancer.

The Tour de Cure aims to raise a total of $2 million by 2010. But you can join the fight without pedaling a single kilometre. You can get on the road to finding a cure by supporting one of three Lexus of Brighton cyclists taking part in the journey this year.

Tour de Cure, in 2009, will cycle from Brisbane to Cairns and raise money for key projects in the following charities...

The Lexus of Brighton team includes our Dealer Principal, General Manager and Sales Manager.

However, in order to take part each team member must raise $10,000 towards this worthwhile cause.

In order to raise these funds Lexus of Brighton will be undertaking a number of fundraising activities involving the dealership, our customers and the community.

Please help the Lexus of Brighton team by making a donation today.

The Lexus Hybrid Car visits Turner House

3J had an opportunity to look at a Lexus hybrid car on the Turner House Oval. Josh told us all about this car and this is what we learned.

We learned that hybrid means it has two parts. It is a hybrid car because it can run on battery power or petrol. It is more environmentally friendly because it does not use as much petrol as other cars.

The batteries recharge whenever you use the brake or are coasting along at a slow speed. The batteries are in the back of the boot. You can run on the battery for quite a few kilometers. You only use petrol to power the engine when you go very fast.

When it runs on battery power it only emits water which does not pollute the air. Petrol sends off a gas called carbon dioxide which is not good for the planet.

The parts of a Lexus hybrid car are fully recyclable and even recycled paper has been used in the doors to insulate for noise so it is a good sound proof environment inside the car.

It was a very luxurious car. We had lots of fun sitting inside and having a look under the bonnet and in the boot.

When Josh drove it on the basketball court it was very quiet because it was just using electrical power. 3J really enjoyed learning about this car as part of our Unit of Inquiry into energy.
