Energetic performance that also invigorates the driver.
A more powerful 3.5 litre V6 engine
Put your foot down and you'll discover that the engine has more mid range engine torque where you need it, for towing and overtaking. Lexus engineers have also achieved significant performance gains in the Next Generation RX, without increasing the same 3.5 litre capacity of the previous generation RX 350.
Increased fuel efficiency
While power has increased, fuel consumption has decreased by 3.5% to a combined figure of just 10.8 l/100km*. Some of these improvements have been achieved though advances in the inlet and exhaust manifolds, resulting in an engine that more flexible to drive, yet more efficient to run.
6-speed automatic transmission
You'll not only feel smooth acceleration with this 6 speed. The transmission also allows the engine to run in its more efficient operating range for more of the time, ensuring crisp acceleration and contributing to lower fuel consumption. This is also the lightest and most compact transmission in a mid sized SUV.
Downshift control for crisp acceleration
As you accelerate quickly, the transmission automatically skips intermediate gears and selects a lower gear for improved response.
Active Torque Control All Wheel Drive (AWD)
During normal driving conditions, only the front wheels drive the vehicle for improved fuel consumption. Should you encounter slippery road surfaces, Active Torque Control AWD progressively feeds more power to the rear wheels, for optimum control.
All Wheel Drive (AWD) Lock
You've also the option of locking the front and rear wheels at the flick of a switch, so all four wheels provide equal driving effort. This is particularly useful in snow or mud, or when driving over undulating off-road trails.
Nimble suspension system
For improved agility, a newly developed double wishbone rear suspension system allows a freer range of movement and helps the wheels maintain contact with the road. The front suspension has also been retuned to complement the rear suspension, for added control and comfort.
The ease of Electric Power Steering
When you're driving straight ahead, no steering assistance is provided which reduces fuel consumption, because unlike conventional systems Electric Power Steering only provides assistance when you turn. Being speed-sensitive, it also ensures maximum assistance while parking as well as greater road feel at higher speeds.
*Fuel consumption will vary depending on driving conditions / style, vehicle conditions and options / accessories. Source of fuel consumption data: Source, eg ADR81/02 combined (L/100km) for RX 350 Prestige model.
