LEXUS IS250 WINS GERMAN LUXURY CAR AWARD
Lexus IS250 has won the prestigious German Golden Steering Wheel Award for automotive excellence.
IS250 scooped the Middle and Upper Luxury segment, achieving the highest score on the performance of the chassis, brakes, handling and transmission.
The Golden Steering Wheel Award is recognised as one of the highest accolades in the European automotive industry.
Winners are selected by a two-phase judging component, with the first stage of judging being conducted by 11 million readers of German national newspaper Bild am Sonntag and automotive magazine Autobild.
Once the six winners in each vehicle category are nominated by the public, professional drivers, motoring journalists and celebrities rate and determine the winners at a test drive event held in Balocco, Italy.
In 2006, Lexus IS250 defeated strong competition and took out the category ahead of Volvo, Honda and Mercedes.
Lexus divisional manager John Roca said Lexus' approach to styling and performance was winning recognition from around the world.
"Claiming an award like this in such a competitive European sector is a fantastic result for Lexus," Mr Roca said.
"IS250 has been a standout performer for Lexus, and to receive this prestigious accolade is testament to the outstanding quality of the vehicle."
