Record January Sales For Lexus

Lexus has signalled it is heading for unprecedented sales in 2019 with an all-time January high last month on the back of the arrival of the luxury UX compact SUV.

The record January tally of 705 vehicles delivered to customers represented a gain of 15.8 per cent compared with the 609 vehicles sold in the same month last year.

Lexus SUVs led the way with 568 deliveries, headed by the NX Line of luxury mid-size crossovers with 269 sales.

The all-new UX contributed 116 vehicles as both the UX 250h self-charging hybrid and UX 200 petrol variants came on stream.

The RX Line (154 sales) of large luxury SUVs achieved its best January since 2010 while the flagship four-wheel-drive LX Line's January result (29 sales) was the best in 16 years.

Among Lexus passenger cars, the recently launched luxury ES mid-size sedan - now sold exclusively as a hybrid range - returned its best January result in four years.

Lexus chief executive Scott Thompson said the January figures confirmed 2019 will be a record sales year for the luxury lifestyle marque, aided by the recent arrival of the UX that will attract new - and younger - buyers to the brand.

"Lexus has the potential this year to deliver in excess of 10,000 vehicles for the first time and it will also be our seventh year of sales growth in eight years," Mr Thompson said.
