Lexus Rides SUV Wave

Lexus is reaping the benefits of its diverse model line-up with combined sales of its three SUV Lines rising 5.9 per cent in November compared with the same month last year.

Total sales of the NX, RX and LX Lines rose to 411 vehicles for the month compared with 388 deliveries for the same month in 2016.

Sales of the luxury NX were boosted by a wide-ranging upgrade that improved its contemporary design, driving dynamics and luxury features.

In its first full month on sale, the upgraded NX achieved the highest sales for a November in the model's four-year history - a total of 280 vehicles compared with 252 a year earlier.

Strong demand continued for the LX 570 which has lifted sales by 15 per cent so far this year. The luxury RX contributed a further 105 sales for the month.

Lexus chief executive Peter McGregor said the luxury brand and its dealers were poised for a strong full-year sales result well in excess of 8,500 deliveries.

"Having a broad range of passenger cars and SUVs has enabled Lexus to meet the shifts in market demand and achieve total sales that are second only to the all-time record achieved last year," Mr McGregor said.
